Chemotherapy at Home

Many patients will be prescribed Chemotherapy as a part of their Cancer treatment plan. That could involve taking pills at home or wearing a portable pump for a couple of days.

But how does the process of getting chemotherapy at home work, and what can cancer patients expect?

Chemotherapy at Home

Why Opt for Chemotherapy at home

Potential benefits of receiving chemotherapy treatment at home include less traveling to hospital facilities, reduced risk of hospital-acquired infection, receiving treatment in the comfort and security of the home, less disruption to family life, and an increased feeling of control over treatment and illness. Potential concerns for patients include increased feelings of isolation, decreased contact with hospital staff (such as specialist nurses) and other patients, feelings of insecurity from a perception of reduced support outside the hospital setting, and the possibility of less continuity of care.

Zorgers Healthcare makes use of every available resource to customize the treatment and offer it to the demanding patient. At Zorgers we believe in "Having the treatment at the comfort of home makes one feel much more relaxed about the illness".

Procedure:

The Chemotherapy treatment plan is made for the patient, along with the Oncologist advice and guidance. A senior pharmacist and senior Oncology nurse take instructions from the attending doctor and prepare composition under supervision of the doctor. The composition is further reviewed by the doctor before administering to the patient. Strict protocols are followed in this process by the doctor and team.
